The Story Boards are here!! Wow, it took a dolly to bring them off the FED EX truck and into the house! Two boxes arrived, carrying the 34 boards, each box weighed 60 lbs! We are so excited to deliver them! We divided the pictures up between two shots so you can see them all…The first two are close ups so you can see them better. The first one is of him and their daughter.  The second one one we did for fun.The third one is of their billiard room and he is talking on his cell phone doing business so we snapped a shot of that since it was in the billiard room and put them together. These are 20X30 and mounted on masonite. This was our first “Family Portrait” job and what a blessing it is that God brought us such a big job right away so we could pay for some equipment that we really needed for our business!

Next up, will be Marks slideshow of the wedding where he was the second shooter for another friend, named Barton who we have really admired as a photographer, too. We are so blessed to have worked with two very experienced and sweet people such as Barton and Robin. God bless them and their businesses! Check back often as we have 3 weddings coming up.Mark finished his wedding with Barton just now and will be putting up tomorrow!

    The miracle of life…..has begun.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

     Jeremiah 1:5

…so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children.

Then they would put their trust in God
and would not forget his deeds
           but would keep his commands.

        Psalm 68 6-7

  • Thank you for all your support and encouragement on our wedding slideshow!

We are so thankful for the opportunity to capture people’s weddings. We know in our heads that over 50 % will end up in divorce but, we pray in our hearts for each one that they will make it last for as long as they both shall live. We are all witnesses to their vows as we come together to watch the union of two people becoming one. It is quite a miracle. The wedding we just did touched me alot maybe because they played a celtic song that is near and dear to my heart. Try taking pictures when your eyes are welling up! Especially the ceremony ones that you dont want to miss! ha!

So…our next job is a Jewish wedding with Robin in SF. That is going to be awesome. We have taken steps to deal with the lighting issues we had with the Rodriquez wedding. We ordered a Q Flash and it is expected to come today!!! Yay!! A new toy and andexpensive one!!! 0_0  but so worth it!

We are also sittiing on the edge of our seats for the UPS man for another package today, too. Our Rhodes Family order is due today. It is a BIG order so we are excited to see the photos. They ordered 34 StoryBoards which are 20×30 in size and mounted on masonite. They have anywhere from 3 to 5 pictures on there which kinda tell a story. Thank God they have a big house to put all these pictures! And we thank God for the job! It has been our biggest order yet!

It is gonna be fun opening everything up!

I leave you with one of the storyboard photographs so you can see what they look like! This was taken after the photoshoot was done and the kids were just playing around but I kept snapping because first of all they are very beautiful kids and second they were just having too much fun not to keep shooting!

  • Slideshow is up!!

Here is the slideshow from the first wedding we did last weekend. (I did one on Sunday as a second shooter for another photographer and I don’t have those pics yet….when I do, i’ll edit and post them too…)

Janelle and Gilbert were such a great couple., He was so patient and gracious all afternoon, even though he was dressed in black on a VERY hot day!! And she was such a beautiful bride!!

She got married on her parents property- they live out in the country and was the perfect setting (except for the lack of shade…) There were so many great photo ops all around their place.

Thank you to Robin Michelini for letting us help her with this wedding. Can’t wait to see her shots!!!

To see the show, click here

  • PICTURES COMING!!

It’s been a hectic week around here. Finished up editing pictures tonight from the last wedding we shot with Robin Michelini. I’ll have a slideshow up in a couple days, but for now, here are a couple of the pics to show:

      Rucker 20D 005 copy

     Rucker 20D 065 copy

     Rucker 5D 049 copy

     Rucker 20D 052 copy

We had our first studio shoot today! Small and simple, but we are underway!

We are getting ready for next month when we have three weddings and a couple of Studio/Family shoots. It’s amazing to see how God is bringing us business and the contacts He puts in our path.

    Talk to you soon!

    Mark

  • Edit below:

Whew!! The weekend is over with! I feel like I ran a marathon – my legs were very sore today after shooting two weddings, but it was great fun. Saturday was an oven, but the one on Sunday was better, as it had more shade. Both brides were so cute. I’ll have a slideshow from them up as soon as they are done. Kerri got some great shots on Saturday. She posted one already in our last post.

The Saturday wedding was in her parents yard. Her Dad did a lot of work to get it done on time and the place was amazing!

Here is an InfraRed shot Kerri got before anyone arrived. (We took this with our Canon 300D we had converted to infrared – its an amazing camera for landscaes, etc.)

      IR View

    OUR STUDIO IS UP!!

We have our lights now, and have begun playing with them. Tonight we took a few pics and were persuaded to get in front of the lens – a very scary place for a photographer.

This is one with my honey!

Tomorrow we take off for a day of R&R to celebrate our 26th Anniversary!! Talk to you all soon!!

    Mark

    EDIT:

Hey, this is Kerri…wow I didnt know he was going to post this!… We were sitting around showing Dave and Kelly how actions work and how you can do teeth and eyes and take wrinkes out, etc. so this doesnt really look like us. If I would have known he was going to post this I would have told him to dial back the eyes and teeth on me! It was so super funny while we were showing them these neat tricks on a picture of them they wanted us to add things like make a uni brow on both of them and we added a goat- T on Kelly and then we drew hair coming out of Dave’s ears and nose and added a beard He looked like a cross between an Iranian Santa Claus and a Hells Angel…hahaha….wish we would have saved it so I could have posted that!

    EDIT #2

This is Mark…gotta try to get the last word in if I can…

Despite my wife’s protests, I think it’s a beautiful picture of her. Can’t believe it’s been 26 years. We are headed out of town right now. Just finished putting an album together for a client and we booked our first studio job today!! A simple headshot for a business card, but they will also be booking a family portrait session.

Look for a slideshow later this week – we have some great pics to post!!

Thank you for your prayers….the weddings went very well! Today was a restful day for me… but Mark went on to do our second wedding this weekend. He is home now and tired but very happy with his pics today! We will post some of each wedding sometime this week. Or maybe even a slideshow or two… if Mark isnt too tired! Yes, he spent Father’s Day shooting but he was excited to do it so he could work with a local photographer that we met. Yesterday’s was great with our friend Robin whom we have shot two weddings with already. It is neat to be able to work with different photographers. They are both excellent photographers and we are blessed to have them in our lives.

Yesterday’s couple was so cute and sweet! The pastor who married them knew the bride since she was born as well as many other of her siblings and friends. He was such a sweet guy, too. He is celebrating his 53rd wedding anniversay on Tuesday (the day before our 26th.) We have Dave’s birthday on Tuesday and we are leaving for our anniversary that day. So a few things going on this week. Since we didnt celebrate Fathers Day with them they are coming over tomorrow. So we will have a BBQ and hopefully cover all these events!

Mark says today’s wedding couple were really great. The groom just got back from Iraq. So it was real sweet. I cant wait to see the pictures of that! so we can share them with you all!

Well Mark is home and I should be hangin out with him!

Hope you all had a special Father’s Day….

    Love Kerri

Surprise!….Here is one out of the camera (with no touch ups yet)… arent they gorgeous?!

    Rodriguez Wedding!!

We finally finished editing the pics from this wedding – they were such a neat couple, and it was a fun (and exhausting) day!!!

This is a slideshow of our favorites. (You can hit the pause button if you want to stop the show from playing…)

We are off to do two weddings this weekend! Kerri and I are helping our friend Robin on Saturday, and on Sunday I’m assisting another photographer here in town we just met.

So by Monday I should be exhausted!!

But we need to keep going – lots of clients to finish up with, and on Tuesday Kerri and I head out of town for our anniversary to a bed and breakfast nearby. 26 years WooHoo!!

Edit: While I am able to get on my computer for short periods of time I am cleaning out my photos to free up my disk space which is another reason my computer is acting slow. I came across a few I thought I would share… These were taken with my Infrared Camera except for the last one was taken with my regular old Canon Rebel. I can’t wait until I can get a hummingbird with my 5D!  Or as we say around here I can’t wait to shoot a bird!

Most of these were taken when I went back to the barn at my friends house with my infrared. Except for #6 was taken of my sister’s backyard and the hummingbird which was taken in my backyard and with my Canon Rebel. The Infrareds were taken in May not in the winter all the green has been removed by the infrared so it looks like winter! Some of the barn ones you might remember from a while back when I took some color ones with my 5D that I posted.

But I saw these and thought I should post some of them since they are so unique. I love Infrared!

    Arent they cool???

    Ahhh the hummingbird!

    Hummingbird-28

Please continue to pray for our computers! We are still having major problems with the computers!!!!!!!!!!! As it turns out mine was very sick too!!! …Mark has been scanning them for days to get to the bottom this….It has been challenging for him to have 3 acting up! Just when he thinks its okay he gets the blue screen of death! We have used every virus killer and spyware program we have been told to use. Still not completely clean. So I will only be on here and there between scans.

We will be posting our first wedding slideshow….by the end of the week if not before….

Be sure to come back for the BIG NEWS!

    Caio for now!!!

     Love Kerri

Today was a real typical Saturday for us…got up ate and started cleaning ….except for one thing I actually broke out my sewing machine!!!!

    IMG_3956IMG_3945

I havent used it in probably 12 or so years!!!  The foot pedal was lost when we had our house fire and it got seperated from the machine when we got our stuff back. That was 5 yrs ago! .I finally ordered a new one! It took me a a few minutes to remember how to rewind a bobbin and set everything but then it was like riding a bike…I needed to hem the material we bought for the studio. I got it all done…4 panels. I am just glad I wasn’t trying to do anything too crazy!!haha

When I was feeling pretty good about myself Brian asked if I could repair his jeans..well they were blown out…but I repaired them…maybe like I would have in the 60′s!! haha…He loves them!! He never saw me sew before so I think he took advantage of the opportunity to get some repair work done!

    IMG_3947

Anyway they guys worked really hard in the yard getting the last of the firewood we gave away cause we just cant use it…I cant stand the smell of the wood…They just left to take the last load (hopefully) to the dump….then we start revitalizing our yard !…

This is an early Father’s Day gift since Mark will be shooting a wedding on that day. Can you guess what it is??? I think he thought I bought him another tripod..haha…but it isnt… it is something he has wanted since I have known him…a 2 person hammock…He loves it!!! And was he surprised!!! We have to set it up yet. I was hoping he could enjoy it this weekend…before the flurry of weddings take hold that are coming up…

    Well have a wonderful weekend!!!

A Broken Mug, by Tom Norvell

One of my favorite coffee mugs was broken this week. Not sure how it happened. Just found it sitting there on the counter with the handle broken off. A friend had given it to me because it has one of my favorite Bible verses on it. “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God” (Philippians 3:14).

As I stood there looking with disappointment at my handle-less cup I realized that now the mug actually illustrates the verse. Before, it was a very nice coffee cup with a really meaningful verse on it. Now, it may represent what Paul had in mind when he penned the words. “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Philippians

    3:12-14 NIV).

Coffee mugs are made with a purpose. Mugs are made for drinking coffee, for drinking hot chocolate, for holding pens, for collecting change.

They are not made to simply sit on a shelf and gather dust. When you use a mug there is the possibility that it will get damaged or broken.

Like the coffee mug we were created with a purpose. We were created for life. We were not created to sit and watch life go by. We were created to embrace life. Jesus said it this way, “I have come that you may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). Paul said we were created to do “good works” (Ephesians 2:10). The abundant life does not happen without risks. Doing good works is not without dangers.

Life is for living. When you live life, there are risks. When you live you may get hurt. When you live you may experience disappointments.

When you live you may get damaged. When you live you may get broken.

Take a lesson from my mug.

When that happened to Paul, he chose to press on. He did not allow his life to end with a broken handle. He kept pushing forward. He continued to move forward toward the prize God had called him to.

My mug with no handle will most likely be reassigned to be a penholder or a change cup. It has served me well. Many good cups of coffee have been consumed from that mug. But it is time for this mug to move on to a new goal, a new purpose for being.

What about you? Has life been unkind to you lately? Have you considered retiring, sitting out the fight, being shelved? Please don’t.

Take a lesson from my mug. Even if your handle gets broken … press on. Move forward. Your handle is broken, but you are not dead. Keep living. God has something in store for you.
