Well we have recovered from the heat of the wedding but we are still dealing with the record heat wave we are experiencing here (Sacramento) … it is predicted to be 113 today! I am really getting tired of this…people have died…I just caught something on  the news about a place that is air conditioned that people can be taken to. There is no reason people should be living here with out air conditioners especially those who health is vulnerable to extreme heat.

As usual Mark is working on getting the photos ready for the slideshow….we took so many! But what else is new? haha….

I have noticed a shift in my commenters…alot of my old friends have moved on and I have noticed a whole new crowd…I hope its not because I havent been able to visit as often as I used to. I understand if that is the case. I also understand alot of ppl probably feel they want more substance than pictures…which I understand too…I have kept my old site Passiondove if you want to keep visiting me and not have to look at pics all the time. We are in a different place and different season…so I guess I should expect different people along with that.

So to all you new people…WELCOME! I hope you enjoy visiting…and to my old friends if you see this, I MISS YOU!

    Have a blessed day!!!!

    Love Kerri

    Desmond & Katrina

Yesterday we captured the wedding of Katrina & Desmond. What a neat couple and a great family!  They were so fun.

The wedding was in her parents back yard, and the yard looked wonderful! Her Dad put a lot of time into the yard and it showed.

We can’t wait to show you the images. I’ll have a slideshow from this up buy the end of the week (sooner if I can…) This one is a special treat – Lindsay and Brian also shot with us yesterday, and they got some incredible shots as well, so our slideshow from this wedding will really be a family effort.

We survived the heat – it was 117 degrees yesterday! It’s even hotter today, so we’re taking it easy and trying to stay inside as much as possible. I think it’s 111 already – supposed to be around 116…altho I just picked Brian up from work and the car temperature gauge said it was 120!!!

Kerri got overheated and was really sick when we were in the middle of all the formal family portraits. This was around 8pm and she went and laid down in the car…she hadnt eaten and when our son Brian brought her food she was so nauseous she couldn’t eat…she had a big bottle of water but it just wasnt enough. When you are “on” like that all day you have a hard time finding time to take care of yourself…we made it okay but Brian was remarking all day, “why are we living here?” Maybe he will feel different when he gets paid for the day…!

  • Beautiful shot, what a great couple, looking forward to seeing the slideshow.

  • The 20D is a great camera alright, I just love it! :)

And, I’m still waiting for Costco to call back after I dropped off my reference contact info :p

  • That’s really hot! So that would put you where, Phoenix?

  • Yeah, I’ve learned that you have to take a few moments on days when you shoot events like that and drink a lot of liquids and at least snack a little. I hope she’s better now.

And yes, it was some trouble, but I managed ok. The 50mm f/1.4 and f/1.8 are fantastic lenses. The 50mm f/1.4 is sharper wide open and more open than the f/1.8 but the f/1.8 is sharper stopped down.

  • That is a great shot of Mark. Love that lens

  • What a great wedding picture…..and I can’t fathom the heat!!!!

  • Nice photograph!  Look forward to seeing the rest.  Glad to hear Kerri is getting better!

  • Hi Kerri, thanks for visiting! I’m a veterinary medical student on summer break working as a internal med/critical care tech. I love photography, if medicine were not my chosen path I would definately have pursued photography to it’s full potential. I love you and your husband’s work on this site, you do wonderful wedding work! With regards to the lens…I’m not sure if Canon has an equivalent, I know there are a few Canon macros (135?) that are quite good but not really familiar with the lineup. The 105VR is a detail shot lover’s dream.

  • Wow that is hot.  Where are you?

  • kerri, i sure hope your feeling better!!! you better take good care of yourself girl, dont make me come out there!!! hey I heard on our local news about the heat in california!!! wow, I never remember it like that when I was growing up!!! and hey I have to say, that having that groom under the veil is the most romantic thing I have ever seen!!!! love ya girl!!

  • Very beautiful picture , great job ^_^!

  • Nice pic, love your work. You guys take good care of yourselves and drink lots of  clean water, slowly though, drinking it too fast can mess you up…..God Bless.

  • Well, I’m glad you’re alright.

  •  that is some hot weather!

    Hope we’re feeling better?????

    I love that picture!!!!!!!! Wow!

  • Beautiful shot! : ) – Kat x

  • thanks!  that’s my nephew.  he just turned 2 and has already been a flirt w/ the ladies for quite a while. =]

  • Hey Kerri, the same thing has happened on my site. I have just a few to come by now. But I haven’t been able to visit as much as I like but just as you said, it’s a new season and things have changed. I miss you though!!! I know that you are busier now so I love to hear from you whenever you can get by. We don’t forget. So just go with your flow. The pictures are beautiful as usual. I have a thing for weddings now…hahahaha! I wish you could have taken our pictures. The ones that the chapel took were not that great but we do have those, but everything else was soooo beautiful and I had a wonderful wedding and honeymoon. Now I can’t wait to get back to Vegas. I had a cruise scheduled in October but now I am going to cancel it and go to Vegas in September. I can’t wait until November to see my husband!!! hahaha! The heat has been terrible and I have been hearing where people are dying from the heat. It was 120 the Sunday that I was in Vegas, but they know how to deal with the heat. I hear also that the earth is hotter than its been in 400 years…that’s something! So try and stay cool and keep up the awesome work. love you!

  • Hi Kerri, I Am finally back!

Photoshop really is a lifesaver! =P

  • Re: your question. Are you meaning as having the same effect but on the entire rectangle image? That is quite possible.

As re the square it only does the centre or either end of the photo was there another section of image you were thinking to crop from.

    Appreciate the feedback.

  • :wave:Nick & Sarai picture show of wedding ~ just beautiful work! :goodjob:What a lovely couple they are, and what a treasure your work will be to them! I’m looking forward to the wedding pictures/slideshow of Desmond and Katrina, too. :heartbeat: WOW!
