  • 102 Years!

    Meet Nana

My sister’s husband Mike’s grandmother just turned 102 and we stopped by the nursing home to see her. She is a sweet woman and altho she has moments where she is lucid she has lost her ability to remember anyone except for her grandson Mike. It was so nice to see people who came as far as San Rafael to visit her. That had to be over a 2 hour drive.

She has lived a long time! Wish I would have taken the time to sit down and interview her about her life when she was still lucid.

Love your grandparents and be sure to visit them. Nana’s family has been there for her for everything she has ever needed…. even when she doesn’t know they are her family anymore.

  • Beautiful woman! I understand the disease, my mother has it, only that she was diagnosed with it at age of 51 years old. It’s so important to appreciate life and family for what they have done for you and for how they have loved you. Happy birthday, Nana!

  • Wow!! 102!! :heartbeat:  She is a beautiful woman. If my Mom were living–she would have been 108 in December. Nana has seen and heard a lot in all her years.  I’m sure her story would have been intriguing.    You should write your story/history down for your children and grandchildren.  Happy Birthday, Nana!  :heartbeat:  May God bless you richly is my prayer. ~Carolyn

  • Wow! She’s still a knockout at 102. I wonder if she’d be interested in a younger man. My great uncle is 91.

  • Wow…102…that’s amazing!

  • oh wow! 102! by golly thats a long time to live! she looks awesome, she looks like she can go a number of more years! =) i need to visit my grandma too, shes 88!

  • She looks wonderful!

  • WOW that is amazing and she looks great!  My great grandmother was just 4 months shy of turning 100 when she died. I wish we did get all the stories too.  We gave my grandmother that is alive now and who is very lucid, a journal with questions to answer about her life and they ended up being short answers like yes or no, LOL.

  • Praise God there is so much you can learn from someone that age

  • Ryc. So far it is but there is much to see and trails to run

    Be blessed,

    Daniel

  • Thanks for the anecdote – very poignant and touching.

  • WOW! She still is amazing for that age! I remembered my great-grandmother reached of age of 100, we had her 100th birthday party and few days later she peacefully passed away.. she was an amazing woman with wonderful families and to be able to live a century! AMAZING!! I would have LOVED to ask her questions and all those what she went through growing up…. but at the same time I was 6 years old.

    Touching blog! :heartbeat:

  • Since I do a lot of genealogy now, I have wished so many times that I talked more to my grandparents, and great-grandparents about their lives. One of my great-grandmothers lived till I was 20, but I wasn’t interested in family history back then.

Another family friend from church died last year at age 101. She has been a great source of information.

  • 102, God bless her! She looks fabulous. I can’t imagine all that she has experienced in her lifetime. She must have some incredible stories. ~ Dawn

  • 102,  can you imagine all the changes those eyes have seen.  When she was born they were riding horse buggies and you crossed the oceans in steam ships.

  • :rolleyes:I wonder which Canon Camera was around when she was born?  Probally the Canon d1

    She looks amazing for 102!
