  • EDIT: Upon Closer Inspection…

This is why it is important to use Photoshop to look closely at your image BEFORE you post it or show to to anyone. Sometimes there are details that only show up when you zoom in. For instance, when I looked at the possum picture closer I found something I wasn’t expecting. These darn digital cameras – sometimes the sensor picks up details that the naked eye can’t see. I put it next to the picture so you can look at them together.

    You be the judge…

    We shot a Possum!

    Possum  Possum2

We shot him with my 5D… are you kidding??? I love animals!!!! So this is what I found in my driveway standing on a stack of firewood. He had the cutest pink nose and paws…I felt so sorry for it because I knew it had to be really scared! We were only just a few feet away. I think it just froze like that becuse that is what possums do, they prentend to be dead but I guess he forgot to lay down!

    hahaha…

I just realized something…this must be what my dog was barking at the other night…he was really worked up about something at the back fence…I am glad he couldnt get to it.

When I saw him I called for Mark to bring the camera…grabbing my 5D which as many of you know doesn’t have on board flash and it was pitch black outside. I got back into my car and backed up until my headlights had him in its sights….then Mark shot him….Good shot eh?

I hope he has a good home somewhere….or that he is possibly someone’s pet?? Living in town it is hard to believe he just wandered here…from the forest!

Anyone see OVER THE HEDGE??? You gotta go see it…I was expecting either William Shatner or Avril Levine’s voice to come out of that possum….lol!

Okay so that was my big surprise….haha

  • Cuuuute!  The other night when I drove home from work, there were 5 skunks by my driveway…eeps!  I just saw in the paper 3 weeks ago that there was a sleeping black bear up in a tree about 3 blocks away from here.  He was safely removed by wildlife officials to go back in the mountains.  Definitely different being here to be aware of bears and mtn lions when there were only small prairie animals such as rabbits and foxes to think of back at home in ND, ha!

  • Possum glamour shots. Love it!

  • RYC: We live in Boulder, CO, which is nestled right at the foot of the Rocky Mtns (30 minutes west of Denver)  We love it though.  Perfect for us, nature lovers.  My husband is from TX and my parents live in ND so we live right in smack in between both families so again, right place for us.  If you have any more critter surprises in your yard, be sure to take pics, I love those!

  • :giggle::wave:For a minute there I thought that was a photo of Mark! LOL!!!:lol::lol::lol:

  • Really I did…Look at the eyes!

  • even the pink nose…just like marks…am I right or what?

  • Awww, that is too cute.  Poor thing looks scared to death though.

Kerri, we should bind together in prayer on Thursday for Sara.  She and I had a good coversation this morning on IM.  Still think you should get on there with us sometime so we could all 3 talk to one another.

    Blessings!

  • Funny thing is, when I was saw the word “shot” without looking at the picture, It didn’t even cross my mind to think about a gun. I guess that’s what photography and “shooting” has done to us!

  • Haha I’m with Tim, I thought of your 5d immediately. Using headlights because of no on-board flash… ingenius! Can I start calling you MacGuyver?

  • :coolman: Hey Mark, lets the the BBQ all ready for a Jed Clampet Possom Pie!:laugh:

  • Don’t mess with the guy who has the original photo’s…..stay tuned.

  • :heartbeat: I love possums . . . I use to see one around our backyard that I named Mathilda. I’ll have to write a story about her and her babies. The Humane Society came one day and took them away. She had her home in my neighbor’s old shed and one day she discovered them. If you catch them as a baby, they can grow to be a pet. The bad thing about that is they will sleep ALL day and rummage around during the night.  Very cute picture … I think he looks more like Randy than Mark, however. Adios ~Carolyn :heartbeat:

  • LOL!!! Razehell you are correct!!!  I do believe I see Randy there…
