Cowboy Wedding
Last week I had the honor of helping Randy out with wedding at Arden Hills. He has a slideshow up on his site – go visit!
At the wedding and the reception there were all these cowboys!! (The grooms family is in the rodeo business.)
So what do you do when you go to a cowboy wedding but don’t see the cowgirl? Well, you look hard into your pictures and find her!!
I took these two pics at the wedding:
So, I went into my digital darkroom, took out my digital scissors. Here is the animation showing and leading up to the final image:
and after cleaning up the stains on the hat …here is the final pic:

:coolman: Hey Mark…Hats off to you! On the transform, great job.:goodjob:
that’s pretty cool, but you’ve gotta watch out for the direction of light on both subjects. the light on her is coming from the right (as indicated by the shadow on her right hand side of her chin) but there’s a shadown on from the hat on the side of her head.
on the left side*
So totally cool…! What a great job. I think the shadows look good. And this wedding was gorgeous! You and Randy did a great job! ~ Dawn
Kerri,
Thanks for the comment but those pictures are actually of my brother in law that I took of him on thanksgiving. I am not that photogenic
Brandon:
Thanks – I looked at the shadows a long time before I applied the final shadow. Since I extracted the hat without the shadow I was free to put the shadow wherever I wanted to.
Since I took the picture I knew where the light was coming from – It was a ceiling light coming down on her left shoulder. If you look under her chin, you see the shadow is the same direction as the one coming under the hat – that was what I was matching.
Thanks for making sure I keep the pictures realistic!
hey Markbo… pretty funny stuff… you got me going now! And how come I’m the only one who posted your mob mug? I love it! ~ Dawn
Dawn: I think I look like Sylvester Stallone….I didnt think about posting it, prob hoping it would go away but knowing Randy there will always be more. He and I always get shots of each other when we shoot together – it’s part of what we do – makes it more fun when we snipe shots of each other. I need to drag out some of his and have some fun with them.
I didnt realize what a hit the animations would be – I can see how to use them in so many ways and will be putting some together to use here in our studio when we meet with clients. i need to learn more about transitions to see how to make them smoother.
We could make that part of the next DSLR class! Speaking of which, what will it take to get you to come out to the West Coast to do an album design seminar? Or if you do one there it would be a great reason to visit Chicago!
 Neat way to do things! ~Carolyn
hehehe so cool !!
Hey Mark,
You are a photoshop geni! This looks so real and just the idea to think it up and who to use this hat on…well its that imaginative spirit you have. Absolutley amazing work!
Dr. Doug
Nice shots, and I love the hat!
I have to admit…she looks better in the hat!! Fab job on the wedding!!
