Our Nightmare come true…
Last night we went out to take our Family Christmas picture and one of the worst things happened…we dropped one of our best lenses…on the pavement no less!!! I can’t tell you how awful it feels to all get into the car and drive home with all the emotions grabbing at you!!! Shock…frustration…anger….sick to the stomach…inner tears…reality.
Doing better today but last night was pretty quiet around here….
Thank God for Sundays…it is a good day for a good perspective! So now we pick up and move on….we have alot to be grateful for and will not let this stress us out or let it take our joy…
Psalm 51:12
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
Psalm 86:4
Bring joy to your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
Psalm 90:14
Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

I need velcro gloves….sorry sweetie! How kind to use the queens “we” rather than say it was I who dropped the lens.
Ouch…it must’ve hurt. I feel you pain. That looks like the $900 EF 28-135 F3.5-5.6 IS USM lens. But like you said… thank God for Sundays… we pick up and move on. :sunny:

OH NO… I showed my hubby the up-close pic and he said it looks like some kind of retaining ring thingy cracked… maybe you can send it in and get it repaired? The Lord must have some purpose in this… hmmm wonder what He is up to?

(((HUGS)))
Thank you everyone! You have made the load feel alot lighter!!
Steve, yes we are going to WPPI! Are you? A drink on your 20D??? oh wow…
Daniel, thank you for praying!!! We will be looking for that blessing! : )
Carolyn, yeah its a bad habit to wait for the shoe to drop when it might not ever happen!
Bee, yes we are sending it in and hoping a repair will be less costly than a replacement.
James, yes it was….
All of you who are praying for us to find a blessing around the corner ….
THANK YOU!!!!!…
Kerri
Wow…I felt sick for you! I know the feeling – I have dropped lenses, cameras, you name it.
I’ll tell you what happened 2-1/2 years ago: Bethany and I went out to Houston National Cemetery (our veteran’s cemetery) to take pics for a July 4 service at church. We took over 200 pictures, and drove home, which is 45 minutes away, in evening rush hour traffic. We went to put the memory stick in the printer and…..there was no stick in the camera! Then we remembered that Beth had dropped the camera on the sidewalk at the cemetery and it popped open. But we didn’t notice the stick was gone. So we jumped back in the car, drove the 45 minutes in Houston traffic, and found the stick on the sidewalk, right where she had dropped the camera. She literally got down on the ground and thanked God for protecting that memory stick, so we would still have our pictures. And the camera is still going strong.
I was thinking about you yesterday as I was printing out wedding pics – about 200 of them. There’s no way I could pare it down to 80!!
oh no! im so sorry to hear about your lens =( as a starving college student who has to save for months to buy one lens, i totally feel your pain.
ugh… i am so sorry for that loss. i have done it before too, lenses, flashes. they are not inexpensive to replace, and insurance just doesn’t seem to cover that kind of stuff. i pray you are able to work without it, or have a windfall and are able to replace it.
Oh yes, I feel that stomach dropping pain…when the waiter spilled the drink on Steve’s camera I was sitting right there. I picked it up and stood there with my jaw hanging open. Not a happy feeling. Best of luck getting a replacement!
so sorry about your lens! I’ve done the same thing. I know that sick feeling very well.
It is always such a pleasure to read your posts. So sorry to hear of the mishap and totally understand that feeling you were describing. Loving ya guys… Sara
So sorry about the mishap. I know the feeling. Best wishes to you both.
I’m just now catching up… I hope you have insurance. I know this was an awful feeling. I will say a prayer you are blessed with another piece of equipment that will replace this one! Take care you guys! ~ Dawn
