  • Nana’s Homegoing….

Just got back from Nana’s Memorial. It was a beautiful mass. Held in the Catholic Church that family attends. After the service they had a full breakfast prepared in another building We ate then drove to Fran’s house to visit with family. My sister is married to Mike and Nana is Mike’s maternal grandmother. You will recall I posted Nana’s passing in mid December at the age of 102.

While I was at Fran’s (Mike’s mother) Nana’s daughter I learned alot about the family especially Nana. She was a very sweet person and never learned to drive. She walked everywhere and ate very healthy most of her life. Until she got to be in her 80′s when she learned she loved Hotdogs! haha…She helped nurse her mother to health when she was sick and became a nurse as a result. She was a very happy person and did for others as her mother did. Her mother did things other people found too difficult to do. She bathed and dressed little babies and children that died to prepare them for their burials. The generation before us did waht they had to do but Nana did it with a smile and song in her heart…

    God Speed Nana!

the middle picture of her at 18 yrs. The one above
of the male was her husband.

David’s wife Linda is the family historian/geneologist.
She began this beautiful book when she was young.
She was always the one who asked the elders to tell her
names and dates and stories as she heard them.

She would then add them to her book…
    with pictures and notations…

I thought I would end on the beautiful page…

Nana loved God so I have no doubt that her life has gone on…in Heaven…

  • Awesome!

I had the blessing of being able to “interview” my Granny the summer before she died of esophageal cancer.  I still have those tapes.

    Blessings,
    Paula

  • wow 102 is a full life i must say! It’s even more joyful to know she believes! =) man shes lived through a century, that amazes me! shes in a better place now!

  • What a sweet and endearing tribute to Nana.  102…………..that is something!

  • I cna’t help thinking  the way Nana lived has blessed so many people

  • A wonderful celebration of her life, thank you for sharing it.

  • She looke like a beautiful person, what wonderful testimony to her.

  • what a beautiful woman she was. when you look at that picture of her, it does’t seem like she is on her way home. i felt that way when my grandma passed at 95 almost a year ago. it just doesn’t seem possible. not the face of death at all. she looked as if she still had a sparkle in her eye. it is amazing she never learned to drive. staying fit is probably one reason she stayed around so long. my grandpa is 91 and he keeps saying, “i kick my legs and swing my arms and take the stairs instead of the elevator”. he is still in good physical health. his mind is starting to become confused though : (

hope to see you in march at wppi!

  • Kerri,

That’s a really good question! I would have to say that for the most part I get really inspired about when editing the picture. I just open up photoshop and when I like what I see I save it and move on to the next picture. Some of the photos I post stay archived on my computer until I come up with an idea on how to post it. I really appreciate that question as it made me think about my own personal creative process. Thanks

  • RYC:  hehee  I actually hadn’t thought about the 100 comments thing, but it is a thought!  Just look how long it has taken me to get that many comments!  hehee  Seriously, things have een crazy betwen writing weekly articles for the Heartbeat magazine, teaching a weekly Bible study, coordinating the prayer chain at church, having a cold/achiness, and then Paula-Beth and Michael’s crisis–Yes, the last thing has kept me preoccupied and running to the Savior.  I love ya, Kerri…Thanks so much for staying in touch!  With much love, paula :heartbeat:

  • Thanks for leaving the comment on my blog! The knee is fine (no fruther pains since that night……… weird). It’s so great to find a fellow OSP’er who is local! Would be great to meet in person sometime. Are you going to OSP West?

  • Time Goes On — Isn’t that the truth. One generation after another. I have big pictures of my Great Grandparents hanging in our living room–they are actually paintings. I love them… I think genealogy is very important. Love ya!! :heartbeat::love::heartbeat:

  • Our pastor would say she’s been promoted. Beautiful pictures. Your sister looks like you.
