  • Jim and Marni Sneak Peek at David Girard Vineyards

Jim & Marni were surrounded by friends and family at David Girard Vineyards as they exchanged their vows on a Saturday afternoon.

What a great day – the blue skies broke through the smoke after days of a thick cover and no rain or thunderstorms!!

Jim and Marni opted for all the benefits of a reveal and early family shots which allowed for lots of extra time with them later. All that was left to do right after the ceremony was the big group shot. With that all done ahead of time we were able to release everyone to the reception while we got Jim and Marni alone with their Maid of Honor Veronica and the Best Man Sebastian for the bride and groom shots. It was so relaxed and such a nice way to keep the day from bogging down with a lot of formals right smack in the middle of the wedding day flow.

We really enjoyed meeting your families and friends and spending your very special wedding day with you.

Looking forward to editing all those images!
Have fun on the honeymoon and we’ll talk when you get back!

  • David Girard Vineyards

Kelly & Tim were married last month at David Girard Vineyards!

When we arrived at David Girard Vineyards that day there was the wildest weather happening…

As the afternoon progressed and we realized their
gorgeous ceremony setting was going to have to be moved into the
reception tent. It poured for the couple of hours while they changed gears and set
the tent up for a wedding as well as the reception site.

When Kelly and the bridesmaids arrived and were ready for their shots
the rain let up slightly so Kerri could get them out on the balcony.

The day was anything if not a
day of letting go and accepting whatever the weather dictated.

    Kelly
was the best trooper bride ever!
    She went with
the flow even tho her dream ceremony spot was covered in water. Of
course the rain stopped just before the ceremony! lol…but it was
still rather cold so when it came time to do the formals the grass was
soaking and the girls were chilled.

When it came time to take Tim and
Kelly out for their private moments at the vineyard by their original
ceremony site, barrel room and around the lake, the sun was beginning
to break through, it was rather lovely.

Tim & Kelly, have a long, healthy, happy & blessed marriage – thank you for letting us be part of it!

  • La Provence Restaurant in Roseville, California!

We absolutely love our referral brides. Danielle was one of the bridesmaids at Susanna and David’s wedding last year so they just had their first anniversary – Happy Anniversary you two lovebirds! We saw you at this wedding! lol. Anyway we loved meeting up with Mike and Danielle for their engagment session and couldn’t wait to do their wedding. Their wedding was yesterday and we had a blast! Not only did we get to see Susanna and David again but we got to see another bridesmaid Gina that was in Susanna’s wedding as well! Sweet!

The wedding was held in Roseville at La Provence Restaurant – what a setting! We cannot say enough about La Provence and their wonderful coordinator Raquel and the staff there! Over and above!!!

The weather was great – the day before it was 106! The high ended up being (only?) 95ish but there was a cooling breeze all day and that night it was down in the 70′s – perfect June wedding weather. We also had a surprise visit from our good friend Randy! He lives very close to this venue and just finished a wedding so he stopped in to see us. I put my 5D with a 70-200 on it in his hands so he shot for a few minutes with us. I hope his Nikon brain didnt have a meltdown!

We can’t wait to show you their pictures as their whole bridal party was so much fun and the families were great – We loved meeting everyone!

Mike and Danielle we loved shooting your wedding and we wish you two a long happy and healthy marriage. Cause your granddaughter has to give you her bouquet when you have your 80th birthdays!

Mark & Brian are still madly editing away and closing in on the next slideshow for Tim and Kelly which will be posted in the next few days.
Mark was sick last week so that put him a few days behind, but thankfully he felt better for the wedding on Sunday.

Keep checking back with us for new posts and the next slideshow!

  • Dave’s Birthday!

Today we celebrated our son-in-law Dave’s birthday!

What a fun day – EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT IT WAS TOO STINKIN HOT!
When we first got into the car the thermometer read 115 degrees!! Then it “cooled” down while we drove.

Dave and Kelly invited some of their friends over for the day also – one of them had a little son around the same age as Jayden – Cyrus. what a cutie!!

Jayden hasn’t had any other little kids over at his house so it was a new experience for him of having someone else playing with his toys! All of us have our first encounters with “sharing” and wondering how we feel about it…

And what’s a birthday party without some cake! The cake on the right is a special Vegan cake that Lindsay made to help celebrate our Anniversary – it was delicious!!

And Dave got his cake with special sprinkles he LOVES….

We gave Dave a birthday present he and his family could use in their back yard on those hot days when they need some shade:

Then we drove home and were rewarded with a special sight along the way:

  • Happy Anniversary to us…..

     Tomorrow is our 28th Anniversary!!

But we celebrated it today since tomorow we are celebrating Dave’s birthday. Then on Sunday we will be busy with a wedding! So today was the day. Mark took me to La Provence a french restaurant here in town.

We not only spent Lindsay’s birthday there last week but we are also shooting our Sunday wedding there as well  Here is a point and shoot shot of our dinner.

Mine was a really nice cup of seafood stew soup and then an open faced tartine of shrimp, avocado, and sprouts. It was all so yummy! Mark had striped bass on a bed of corn chowder risoto…which was also fabou!

Then we had a flourless decadent chocolate cake brought to our table with 2 forks.

Then we asked our nice waiter to take a picture of us…

After our wonderful lunch Mark took me to see GET SMART. I totally enjoyed it and my day. I was freezing in the theatre but once I got outside I remembered how hot it was today…

It was hot (102) but I am hoping that the weather reports are going to be right on Sunday. It is predicted to be alot cooler. I hope so!

When we got home Mark took some more pictures of me….which he is editing…man I wish we could really photoshop ourselves! lol

I’ll let him post them up later.

Thanks for my fun day Mark, I love you!! May God bless us with many more healthy and happy years!!!

EDIT: Here are just a few of the pics we took tonight. I am so blessed to have a Kerri as my wife who has been on this wonderful journey for the past 28 years….I couldn’t imagine anyone better!!

  • Westminster Presbyterian Church & The Library Galleria in Sacramento, California!

Bobbi and Bryan were married this last Saturday in the always gorgeous Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sacramento. Following the wedding we all wisked off to the Library Galleria for an amazing reception. Bobbi and Bryan are such planners and no detail escaped their eye! We had so much fun with them and their wonderful  families. We really feel like we got to know you even better by watching your photo montage.

    Here is their
    SNEAK PEEK!

Now to get back to editing our other wonderful bride and grooms!

  • The (almost ) 30 year war…

My wife and I have been at war for most of our marriage, anduntil recently I never even realized it….It’s one of those quiet wars where nothing is said, but you can tell by our actions. It’s a very serious matter and I’ve wondered if there is counseling for this, and today I even Googled it to see if I was right or wrong. (Because as a guy that’s what it’s all about, right? Not what’s best but just to be right…)

It’s a very serious matter, and I’m reluctant to even postthis up on the blog for fear I may well start disagreements in what have been otherwise healthy marriages….

    Ready?

Does your toilet paper go over the top or under the bottom (punintended…) I have come to realize that we practice a quiet form of resolving this issue…I change it when I use the bathroom and she changes it back when she does. (but our kids also use the bathroom, so I wonder if they have been pulled into this battlefield?)

So the question I have for you is which way does the toiletpaper roll in your house?

And even more telling of how deep a psychiatric issue thisis with you, when you use someone else’s loo and it’s not how you use it do you assume they made a mistake and fix it for them, or give them the benefit of the doubt and leave it be?

Do you change it when you use someone else’s bathroom?

Now I’m not saying that I’m right – at least not in print where it can be held against me – but all I know is that hotels, motels andoffices where the tp is changed by PROFESSIONALS – which way do they hang it? Why over of course. And who am I to challenge the knowledge of those who do this for a living?

    What say you?

  • Karen’s Anniversary Present to Eric

Wow has it really been almost one year since we were invited to shoot Eric and Karen’s wedding on
    07/07/07
    at The Viscaya?
This shot was taken just before they were announced into the reception. Almost didnt get it! Its always great when a bride and groom take the time to take that one shot that you just gotta get.
As an anniversary surprise for Eric, Karen ordered this canvas in a 40×60 to put up in their entryway. When the box came we were amazed at how big this size really is! It really dwarfs the canvas we have hanging up behind it which is a 24×36!
We snapped this picture to remember our first really really big canvas and to get a shot of them once again.
Pretty soon they will be a family of 3 so it was fun to get a shot of them while Karen is with child!
Must have been fun getting that large canvas home! lol

  • David Girard Vineyards, Placerville California

Heather and Ryan were married this weekend at David Girard Vineyard.

The weather was perfect! They couldnt have asked for a better day.The bride and groom were stunning! They had 8 gorgeous and handsome groomsmen and bridesmaids on each side plus a very cute flower girl and ring bearer. They had a lovely ceremony which is always my favorite part of the day. I love that we get to document it because so many times it goes by so quickly and the bride and groom are caught up in the day and it goes by like a whirlwind. They dont get to see it from our vantage points which is the probably the third best place to be! Theirs of course is the first and then second would the officiant! They get to be up there and can see all the faces of the people there while we get the back and sides unless we get the privilege of being at a venue where you can slip into an inconspicuous place behind and to the sides of the officiant. That is when we get to catch the moms and dads and grandparents which we love to get. If we can or cant we still get that sweeping shot of the whole front of the altar area which is always an important shot. The back of the dress and hair/veil is a must!

Here is a new one! I had an assistant at this wedding! I get so sore the day after weddings, so I decided to treat myself and hired Brennan (Robin Michelini’s son) my right hand man!!! He rocked as he carried all my equipment and helped me with all my lens changes I do…what a treat! Thank you Brennan!!!

Here is a quick edit of one of their photographs from their wedding…
We wish Heather and Ryan a long and happy marriage!!!
