  • Hailey and Kelly

Well we have a day here to hit the ground abit before we start running again, we have a very busy week/end. So I am posting some random shots. Yesterday the topic of Mark’s 30D came up. Some of you may know that the 30D has some great upgrade features from the 20D but we have also noticed as well as many others that it seems to have focusing issues. So Mark decided before calling Canon to spend the day playing around with it to see if he can figure out the reason. We checked on OSP our favorite on-line photography board. Found it to be an issue with others as well. It turns out we think that it is sensitive to shake. So we put on one of our IS (Image Stabilizer) lenses and boom that did the trick!…. Now Mark is happy again. But we still want to ask Canon if this is what we have to live with it or is there an adjustment that can be done. If so that would be great! Not all our lenses are IS lenses!!!

    Now on to the photos!

Here is my sister Lorri’s family dog Hailey. She is the sweetest thing!!! She is living in a hotel until their house gets fixed. The roof and air conditioner unit fell in after some rain. So while they are getting repaired they live in a cramped hotel. Its a very nice place but 4 people and 1 large dog in a 2 bedroom is pretty tight.

Since we are all LOST fans we got together last night for dinner at Tahoe Joes…yum! and then to the hotel to watch it together. They have like 5 tv’s there it is insane!

While we were there Mark was still playing with the 30 and the IS lens and got some shots of Hailey….she is such a captive subject…hahaha…

    Okay warning!

Proud Grandma pictures…Here are some recent shots of our daughter Kelly and our grandson….

We used a few effects from Scott Robert’s collection for some of Kelly’s images. We are still learning how to use them since we just got them so hopefully Scott wont see these and say, “holy moly that’s horrible!” We really need to take his class on how to use them! Believe me when I say you have to go to his site and see them done by the master himself…

“The trees of the Lord are full of sap.”

    – Psalms 104:16

“Without sap the tree cannot flourish or even exist. Vitality is essential to a Christian. There must be life -a vital principle infused into us by God the Holy Ghost, or we cannot be trees of the Lord. The mere name of being a Christian is but a dead thing, we must be filled with the spirit of divine life. This life is mysterious. We do not understand the circulation of the sap, by what force it rises, and by what power it descends again. So the life within us is a sacred mystery. Regeneration is wrought by the Holy Ghost entering into man and becoming man’s life; and this divine life in a believer afterwards feeds upon the flesh and blood of Christ and is thus sustained by divine food, but whence it cometh and whither it goeth who shall explain to us? What a secret thing the sap is! The roots go searching through the soil with their little spongioles, but we cannot see them suck out the various gases, or transmute the mineral into the vegetable; this work is done down in the dark. Our root is Christ Jesus, and our life is hid in him; this is the secret of the Lord. The radix of the Christian life is as secret as the life itself. How permanently active is the sap in the cedar! In the Christian the divine life is always full of energy-not always in fruit- bearing, but in inward operations. The believer’s graces, are not every one of them in constant motion? but his life never ceases to palpitate within. He is not always working for God, but his heart is always living upon him. As the sap manifests itself in producing the foliage and fruit of the tree, so with a truly healthy Christian, his grace is externally manifested in his walk and conversation. If you talk with him, he cannot help speaking about Jesus. If you notice his actions you will see that he has been with Jesus. He has so much sap within, that it must fill his conduct and conversation with life.”

    Be a blessing today!

    Love Kerri

  • “The mere name of being a Christian is but a dead thing” It really is! Christian is so cliche now! I think there are many who just say they are christian for the sake of just saying it because they believe in God but I don’t really think they know what it means to really be a Christian!

btw: that dog is so cute! =)

  • Beautiful post, Kerri! RYC, the wedding was in Vegas. I guess it was only fitting, because the groom and his family are from Italy. They must have gotten a kick out the hotel!

  • I have to say “Holey Moley” they are beautiful pics!!! Yes Scott is a Master of his genre, but you guys take terrific pics too! I love the one of your daughter doing the heartshape like that on her stomach. The soft pink shirt makes the picture feel very gentle and loving.

What a beautiful quote… did you write that or was it copied from someone in a book?  It kinda brought tears to my eyes because it is so true that true grace and love comes from the deepest depths of our hearts. Being a Christian is not just saying I believe in God. It goes far deeper than that, more than most people realize. Being a real Christian is being active in the spirit, feeling God, knowing he’s alive, knowing the security in HIM. Nobody  can fulfill that feeling of peace and joy in the heart but God.

  • Loved the pictures as per usual!! Your daughter is just glowing…how many weeks left?? I love pics of pregnant bellies, too precious! The dog pictures are cute too, it looks like she’s saying, “Hmph, your camera lens is pointed at me, go ahead and snap away.” Adorable.

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I loved those pics!  When this bundle of joy arrive, Kerri?  Oh, and I am a HUGE LOST fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I keep wondering where this is going…Thye certainly have a way of keeping us on the edge of our seats–don’t they?!  Love ya dearly…Praying for you and yours–Paula (Oh, and the devotional tho’ts were AMAZING!!!!!!!)

  • Love the pics, and you know what…………Kelly makes pregnancy look so incredible!!  Pics are awesome and so is the post.  Sorry about your sis and them having to stay in a hotel………but the upside to that………NO HOUSEWORK!!!  I would be eating that up!!  LOL!!  Diet is still going good.  Have not lost anything this week, but sugars are good and that is what matters most.  The weight will come off eventually.  It is 5:30 am here and we are having a great thunderstorm!  It is so nice to sit in the quiet in the mornings by myself and just listen to beautiful things like my water fountain and now the thunder.  Kiss that baby for me!!  LOL……Loves to ya………have a wonderful weekend.  Kimi

  • LOVED ALL THE PICS!!! ISN’T IT TOO COOL KNOWING THAT IN THAT BELLY, THERE IS A NEW CREATION AT THE HANDS OF GOD, SOMEONE WITH THEIR OWN PERSONALITY, SOMEONE TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE BECAUSE OF HE/SHE!

    HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND, ((KERRI)!!

    LOVE, CHERYL

  • Pregnancy looks beautiful on Kelly… it doesn’t hurt that her parents are awesome photographers! I really love the first picture of her by the window. Scott’s actions are incredible and I love the way you used them on these photos. We are all anxiously awaiting the birth of her son, your grandson. My mom prefers to be called Nana. My girlfriend who is a grandma, prefers to be called Grandama Pretty. I guess she thinks she’s prettier than the “other” grandma. Children are truly a gift from God. And I really enjoyed reading your quote today. It’s so true and so many don’t realize how important it is to know that we are all God’s children and we are blessed by his presence within us. Once that is truly realized, life is looked at so differently. Hope you have a glorious day! ~ Love, Dawn

  • Ps: By the way, I read your comment on Kenny’s blog! Boy, I knew I would never live that down! LOL!!! :goodjob:

  • Kerri, thanks for the encouragement! I’m excited about it. I’ll let you know how it goes.

  • Beautiful shots of Kelly!  I like that shallow depth of field look as it always looks artistic to me.  I hope she is enjoying her pregnancy.  She does loook like she is glowing or is that a filter, LOL.  Beautiful Psalms saying.  Oh and Hailey is cute too.

  • Hi Kerri! :sunny: thanks for stopping by! So glad you are doing what you love…such a blessing…that is an awesome quote…I heard a great sermon recently on being a branch in the Vine…and how we don’t have to run around trying to figure out how to be one, or read books on it, we just have to BE in Christ, and as we surrender to Him, His Life changes US and we become conformed to HIS image, and then we bear fruit of Godly character, and He is glorified…we cannot help but bear fruit…grace, peace, love and JOY be multiplied to you, in Christ Jesus, our precious Lord and Saviour! Lois

  • thanks for stopping by again and for the comment! =) yah my last line of info was really heartbreaking news! i mean its been going on for sometime now but it hurts to see that! i feel just helpless and boy are we blessed! all in all, this country is still great no matter what history says good and bad!

  • Thats too bad they put a camera out like that.  Should have caught that way before it hit the shelves.  Wonder whet Canon is saying???   Great shots btw.

  • Hailey’s photos are fantastic.. the tones really give them a great mood. BTW, I’ve added a description of my editing process used on my last post, which answers your question!

  • These are wonderful! Kelly is so blessed to have a mom and dad who can take such awesome photographs. I can just imagine what it will be like when the baby arrives!

  • Love these shots, and especially the first window lit black and white one of your daughter Kelly, and isn’t Hailey gorgeous, just look at that expression and those eyes.
