Angora Fire at Lake Tahoe
We went away this last weekend to rest and recharge since we didnt have a wedding scheduled. We eded up finding timeshare time at lake Tahoe and went up with our good friends Ned & Donna Johns along with their sons Josh and Philip.
The weather was GREAT, and we were sorry to hear (NOT!) that it was hot here while we were gone….
Its hard to imagine that there was a devastating fire anywhere up here but there was.
Before we left for home we decided to find the areas damaged in the recent fires up there. The damage was amazing, and you could tell the fire just raced through. People had very little time to grab what they wanted to and get out. For those homes that burned there was nothing left when they came back.
Remember our recent bride and groom Josh and Karah? Right after they returned from their honeymoon this fire happened and he was off to Tahoe and fight this fire! They pulled fire crews from all over No. California and Nevada too I suppose. We saw house after house that was not burned standing right next to houses burnt to the ground. Those houses had signs on them thanking the fire crews and police. It was a heartwarming sight. I have a couple on another card that I will post in a future post…

i love lake tahoe so much, it was one of my most favorite places to wisk away to when i lived in folsom. i was so sad to hear about those fires, they are so horrific! glad you guys had a nice get-a-way.

That really sucks that those people lost there homes. I hope you guys are doing well. Loving all of the new photos.
Some interesting pictures you got there…I really liked the one with the wheelbarrow and then the last one…oh I do miss Tahoe – when we lived in the USA it was just about an hours drive from home! ~Colleen~

ALSO, ((KERRI)), RYC: THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS. I WORRIED ABOUT MS. MERCEDES THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF HER LIFE, MAINLY THE FIRST. I MUST HAVE CHECKED ON HER 20 TIMES A NIGHT, LOL, AFRAID OF THAT SUDDEN INFANT DEATH SYNDROME, ESPECIALLY CAUSE WE SMOKE AND THEY SAY THAT MAKES THE INCIDENT RATE HIGHER. WE TRIED TO STAY AWAY FROM HER WITH THE SMOKE. I HAVE NEVER KNOWN ANYONE THAT HAD SOMEONE DIE OF SIDS PERSONALLY, UNTIL NOW. MY HUSBAND SAID IT WAS HORRIBLE, TO SEE A BABY IN A CASKET. IT’S BAD ENOUGH FOR AN ADULT, BUT I’M STARTING TO WONDER IF THIS HAS TRAUMATIZED HIM IN SOME WAY, NOT JUST BECAUSE IT’S HIS BROTHER WHO LOST THE CHILD BUT AS WELL BECAUSE OF THE VIVID IMAGE HE NOW CONTINUES TO SEE. I’M SOOO GLAD I DIDN’T GO! I DON’T BELIEVE I COULD HAVE STOOD IT! I PRAY GOD NEVER ALLOWS ME TO CROSS THAT PATH…THE DEATH OF A CHILD!

Fire is so devastating but it leaves some amazing landscapes to shoot. You made the post-fire shots seem as peaceful as the lake shots. Great!!!
