    Mom doing free-hand calligraphy.

It is amazing to see someone who has the art form down like that to just whip something out after just talking about it for a few minutes. She did a mock up on two sheets of paper taped together which she is taking home with her so she can get it on her light box. It is going right over the tv that we show our slideshows on. Of course it has to do with photography! I cant wait to see what it will look like when she is done!

  • After Dinner Photos of The Family

Mark’s mother Jacky came out for a visit last week which gave us all the opportunity to get together for a couple of dinners. This was our dinner out at Paul Martins the night before she left for home. It was really great to see her. I will be putting up a post later when we frame up the calligraphy she is doing for us. So we can show you what she is doing for us. She is an amazing calligrapher.

Brides, if you want hand lettered envelopes, etc. she is top in her field. She hand lettered christmas cards for two of our U.S. Presidents.

    Okay as you were….

  • A weekend off in Jackson Ca.

We had a rare weekend off recently and took time to go to Preston Castle (previous post) to finally get some long awaited shots. It was the last weekend they were doing their tours before they shut it down for the winter…so glad we took the time. Afterwards we headed into Jackson for some lunch and found they were having a big street fair.

Family pictures coming up next ( Mark’s mom came for a visit from FLA ) then some weddings and an engagement session after that so stay tuned~

  • Preston Castle, Ione, California

We headed out recently for a fun family day of shooting. We visited Preston Castle in Ione – what a cool place!! After that we headed into Jackson for their Heritage Days, and to visit our photographer friend, Elena of Studio 18 in Jackson. We will post up her picture in the next collage.

    Enjoy!

Here is a link to Preston Castle’s website and below is some interesting Wikipedia history….

    Former Wards

    Former Preston wards include:

  • Our new logo!!

We’re unveiling our new logo! It will take us a little while to transfer it over to everything, but we wanted to let all our Xanga friends see it first!

  • Sneak Peek of Mike & Rachel’s Engagement Session – Grass Valley, California!

    ~SNEAK PEEK TIME~

Mike and Rachel invited us to Rachel’s family horse ranch for their engagement session. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there! They were such a laid back, fun, sweet couple…we traipsed around the property till the sun went down! Then Rachel’s dad kindly made us some hot coffee to wam up with before we left. Its always nice when we get to know the rest of the family. Makes the wedding so much friendlier when you know some of them.

This is just one of the MANY we took that day.I cant wait till we get them all done. Like I said there were horses, they were so much fun… like little kids but they were big!!! Also, a barn and a lake and a white swan and a black duck. I think I remember seeing a flock of wild turkeys cross our path. And I can’t forget the dogs!

Onto the rest of the editing….

Enjoy the great weather!! At least where we are, anyway….

  • What?? No photos!

Nope I am just doing a personal update and you will just have to use your imagination…hahaha…I don’t have Light Room on my work laptop. Boo! My other laptop is shot it lives under the couch gathering dust. Decomissioned you might say. It had one of those loose connections where the cord goes…. Rolling eyes…SO no pics today..

We are heading out tonight to our Thursday Night Book Club Night. We are reading ‘If You Only had One Month to Live”. Its been good. I also just finished reading The Shack. Anyone else read this book? Interesting. Also, read an old book (1954) written by Austin Pardue called Prayer Works. That was a highlight book for me. It will and has colored my thinking and my actions almost as much as the other book I just finished as well by John Bevere called “How to Respond When You Feel Mistreated”. EDIT: (Since someone asked about this book I decided to upload a pic)

    John Bevere's book

AWESOME book. If you need to learn how to see those hurts in a different light this is the book that will help you. These are small books so its been easy for me to get them read. I just started a thriller (just to read some fluff) called The Blue Zone so we will see how that book goes.

SO what are you reading if anything? I would like to find others who read THE SHACK and what their thoughts were.

We are getting ready for a visit from Marks mother Jacky. Looking forward to seeing her as we always do. She comes in tomorrow from FLA. stays with Marks brother Jon for the first half of her visit then here. We have been enjoying the cooler weather and getting our fall plantings in and sprucing up the deck for our cooler weather BBQing! WooHoo!

I wish I could post up some recent pics of Jayden I have tons! He is getting so big and so smart! Its a joy to get to see him everyday since Lindsay watches him while Kelly works we are blessed to watch him grow up while we are working! It is hard for Mark to do that when Jayden comes by and twirls him in his chair and then stands there with his head down and his hands by his sides which means he wants to be picked up and twirled on Grandpa’s lap. Its hard when Brian and he run around the house playing hide and seek and he is screaming with delight and getting the doggies into all the action. lol Fun at the Lydell house!

Oh yeah I got pulled over the other night. IT seems we forgot to pay for our vehicle registration so he tells me that we were expired as I hand him my expired license! I didnt even know it was expired until he came back with this chagrined look on his face. Plus we couldnt find our proof of insurance! Ahhh…we looked like idiots…Mark had to drive home and I had to make an appointment to get my license which I did yesterday so I am legal again. It expired like 3 weeks ago….sheesh. Now I have to appear in court in Dec. blah!!! First time I have forgotten to renew! Hope he doesnt fine me!

In the meantime we are handing off albums to our brides and waiting on favorites from our other brides so I can get started on those. Mark and Brian are madly editing away to get the last of our weddings done…as well as getting to the fun fun fun e-session we did at a horse ranch. Cant wait to get a sneak peek up next week of that one!

Hope you are having a wonderful week…

  • Mike & Danielle’s Coffee table Wedding album

Use your F11 button to maximize the slideshow!

We met Danielle & Mike at Susanna’s wedding (see their wedding and e session on the side bar) last year. It is always soo exciting to get hired by a bridesmaid when she gets to be a bride… since they have already worked with us and we with them we love that! Mike and Danielle were married earlier this year at the amazing La Provence Restaurant in Roseville. What a joy it was to be a part of your wedding day! You guys were fun and we cant wait to see the album when it comes in!

The link to their wedding slideshow is on the left.

    Enjoy!

  • Audra & Evan Miller are having a baby!

The love keeps on going….if you have followed us for very long you know we did Audra and Evan’s Engagement Session and their wedding last year at The Flower Farm.  We did Evan’s mother’s engagement session and their wedding in August. Now, Audra is pregnant and will be delivering their baby sometime next month! (you can find all the links to their slideshows at the left)

When they asked us to come and do some belly shots, we packed up our gear and headed out there.
    Here is their slideshow!

    ~ENJOY~

  • Slideshow Time!! Don and Chris Wed @ The Seasons in Placerville,Ca.

We met Don and Chris at Evan and Audra’s wedding last summer. Chris is Evan’s mother and Don was her soon to be fiance. Don waited until Evan and Audra’s wedding was over before he proposed to Chris. I thought that was very very thoughtful and chivalrous! What a great wedding and what a great couple and family.

Because most of our weddings are referrals, we see a lot of familiar faces…..it’s pretty awesome! We know who they are, and they know what to expect from our team!

So without further adieu here is the sweet union of Chris to Don who are now man and wife and best friends….
